Dai has been at the top of the bouldering scene for over a decade, and is one of most prolific and influential climbers in the world. He started climbing as a teenager, building his own climbing wall in his parent’s garage and quickly rose to top of the game, successfully competing in local, then national and World Cup competitions.
Early on in his career, he shifted his focus on repeating and establishing hard routes and problems around the world, and recently on developing new Japanese world-class bouldering areas. With a track record of a few dozen V15s, his energy to explore still seems unstoppable and he continues to churn out new V14 & 15 FAs every year to this day.
When not projecting a new line outside, he trains in and operates his own bouldering gym called Project in Yokohama.
