Ben Bransby

Ben lives in the Peak District, UK with his wife and daughter. He shares his time between working for the climbing hardware manufacturer DMM and Beyond Hope – the importers of Evolv and Prana, child care, and climbing.

With 25+ years of trad climbing experience (he did his first multi-pitch route at age 5), it is this discipline of climbing where Ben has excelled the most, with hard onsights all over the UK from the Scottish islands to the shale cliffs of Devon. In 2000, on the Gritstone of Yorkshire, Ben flashed Carmen Picasso (then E9) which is regarded as the first ever flash of an E8. Ben has bouldered up to F8B and climbed F8c.

Ben also has over 15 years of Alpine and Big wall climbing with remote first ascents in Greenland, F8b multi-pitch on Mount Blanc, adventurous Triglav walls and exploratory Mozambique spires. He has had two seasons on the walls of North and South America including a one day free ascent of El Cap and a host of first and first free ascent in the Fitz Roy massive of Patagonia.
