Dustin Burd, A.K.A. dburd, has been climbing for 14 years, grew up Southern California and cut his teeth climbing in Joshua Tree, Yosemite, and Idyllwild.
In 2009 Dustin moved to Yosemite Valley and from there his passion for climbing flourished. He spent his time climbing many classic routes like Astroman, the Rostrum, and the West Face of the Leaning Tower. After living in Yosemite for almost a year, Dustin left, but planned to return to free climb the Salathe Wall on El Capitan.
To acquire the tools and strength needed for such a challenge he traveled to Indian Creek, Utah, where his crack climbing skills were honed to make quick work of the upper headwall pitches on Salathe. In Hueco Tanks, Texas, he gained power to combat the routes various boulder problem cruxes. He then traveled to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky and Rifle Mountain Park in Colorado to develop power endurance by sport climbing.
Dustin is currently living in Las Vegas with his wife Sonja and his son Tobin. With little time spare the experience gained from his travels allows him to efficiently complete goals, like his first 5.14, F-Dude, at the Virgin River Gorge and his current goal to climb 13, 5.13 pitches in Red Rocks. While pursuing his own goals, Dustin enjoys mentoring future generations of climbers by working and climbing at the local climbing gym.
